Spring Cleaning this Month

Spring is here and blooming, at least for all of us in the beautiful Southwest! Feeling a sudden burst of 'the fever,' we began to clean and organize the office and during the process came across some buried Multi-Edit media. And that started me to thinking... Why not offer to this to our users! For further details on how we'll be liquidating this 'cleaning' find see Michele's article. I believe you will find this an affordable opportunity.

Also in this issue, Dan Hughes will be providing us with a sneak peek into our upcoming 11.03.00 patch release and will update our development direction for our next major Multi-Edit release.

I'm also going to take some time in this issues Support Section to provide more information on the older releases that we're offering including supported OS's, media type and additional Q&A.

First I want to thank all of you that responded to the questions we posed in our last newsletter. The feedback was quite enlightening. There were features of Multi-Edit discussed that we hadn't considered when we formed the questions. What we have decided, based upon your feedback, is to continue using the current code base and try to only change what needs to be changed to implement the base unicode support. There will of course have to be some changes to CMac to permit it to handle unicode characters but at this time we don't plan on changing the CMac language much. We are not language designers so CMac probably won't become an object oriented language. Once we have the basic unicode support working we will then be looking at adding new features such as exposing more of the internal code so that add ons can be written using compiled language as well as possibly other scripting languages.

We'd also like to thank everyone for sticking with us through these hard economic times. To reward all of our loyal customers who have purchased and updated to the 2008 version of Multi-Edit we have decided to include in the a new update, code that re-implement our keystroke macro capability so that it works under Vista. I have been looking into this issue and once we have it working we will be releasing it in the next free update for Multi-Edit 2008. This update will pull together all of the other little loose ends so that the Multi-Edit 2008 product will remain viable until we release the unicode version.

Older Version Notes of Importance

Since we are offering older releases of Multi-Edit and are aware of specific questions which will be posed up front, I’ve taken the time to address as many of these issues as I can, here in our Support Topic. These Multi-Edit overstock products are all new condition that were returned to MESi by our resellers and distributors once newer releases became available. Therefore no serial numbers or download links will be issued as the products are already licensed and sealed, ready for ship. Some of the media may be an older product release, but can easily be updated to the most current builds by using Help | Check for Upgrade or by visiting our Downloads Page where you can manually download the final build of your newly purchased product.

Since some of the products we are offering are not supported under the same Operating Systems, I’ve noted in the descriptions for each one below what the physical media contains as well as the supported OS’s for each release. Be sure to review these details before purchasing to ensure no problems with product installation.

Support for these overstock items will be available as usual, however, support will not include fixing bugs or compatibility issues that have since been resolved in newer product releases. Be sure you are certain you are at the final product build before submitting any reports to our Support Department.
