I didn’t know for sure, some binaries are quite tolerant of changes, including length changes. Others are intolerant of even single byte changes of the same length. I wanted to find out how tolerant *.DOCS were.
Conevrting them to RTF’s & back was another option.

Actually it worked quite well, as long as the length was the same.
But yes, it made me nervous. OTOH, the wildcard multi-file search capabilites allowed me to verify results of the other products.

Because Word is incapable of multi-File search & replaces. My whole point and need.
I did find other solutions that work and make me less nervous.
Allowing me to check and modify about 2,000 files in 2 hrs or so. (most of lt in the background).
